Wow! It is already week 8 and it is time for the big reveal!
" First time on my blog? Welcome and thanks for coming by! My name is Samia Verbist, I am a French Interior Designer based in Huntington Beach, California. I obtained my Bachelor Degree in Interior Architecture in Paris, France and created my company in California 5 years ago. I love to create interesting designs for my clients and to suggest an interior that goes over and above what they would have thought of. I love wallpaper, gold and turquoise color! I have a passion for Mid Century home and Hollywood Regency style. And my favorite place on earth is Palm Springs! "
I love the One Room Challenge! It is such an amazing way to show the make over of a room in a short time. So, thanks to Linda and all the ORC team who organize this event twice a year in collaboration with Better Homes & Gardens. I really enjoyed to participate for the second time as a Guest participant. I hope you enjoyed it too! Now it is time for the big reveal!
Let's start with a reminder about this project! My clients hired me to rethink their home office. They both occasionally work from home. After a certain time, they get overwhelmed by all the files, books, and papers they accumulated in this room. They needed help to create a beautiful and functional home office. They also asked me if this room could be a guest room as well. That was my challenge.
If you followed me since the beginning of this adventure, you may forget how it was. If it is your first time, you haven't see how it was. So here are some pictures of the room when they hired me:
I have to admit that I immediately imagined what I can create in this room! The budget allowed me to go for a complete custom home office which was great because of the size of the room. It is a small space and having two station desks plus a Murphy bed in 130 sq ft was challenging!
So, I created a layout and renderings for this room based on my clients' wishes: each of them will have their own station desk, storage, one bookshelf and a Murphy bed (Queen size). Then, I went to Langin Designs to discuss about my vision of the space and see if they could build it. With our combined expertise and ideas, we were able to design the future home office of my clients:
My clients immediately approved the design and here we are after 8 weeks of intense work! The room has been freshly painted with Seapearl 961 from Benjamin Moore. Electricity was updated with wall outlets with USB ports. All custom cabinets were build in a stunning maple wood painted with ten coats of white lacquer and the counter top is a strong tainted oak! I selected new desk chairs, table lamps, ceiling lamp and a lot of decor/accessories for the bookshelf and shelves.
Et voilà:
This room is bright, elegant, and functional! Both my clients can now work from home at the same time and they have room for all their files, books, and papers. Plus, they enjoy this beautiful space!
They both have their own station with files cabinets with comfortable swivel armchairs from Crate & Barrel. I love the tweedy fabric. The lines of the chairs are contemporary with a touch of classicism.
Who can say that there a queen bed behind this cabinet?! But look:
This custom Murphy bed's door is just amazing!
I definitely love that home office! My clients too!
Wow! Look at the Before/After below ⇣⇣⇣ Even my client were surprised by the new look of their room. During the last 7 weeks, they completely forgot how their office was! They wanted something bright, elegant and most importantly functional... and I did more than what they expected!
I just want to share with you what my clients said this weekend after the pictures were done and the project officially completed:
"Another successfully finished project with Samia Verbist Interior Design! This time Samia worked on my own home. When I presented her with my home office built-in cabinets challenge, she had it up on a 3D design on her computer 2 days later. I do not remember even changing any details on her proposal. She had everything I wanted down to the color and the quality of the wood. You can trust Samia with her expertise and her contacts."
That is the reason why I love my job as an Interior Designer, to help others bring their dreams to life! Now this project is completed and the challenge too! It was a real pleasure for me to share it with all of you!
Please leave a comment below with your impressions about the project; I would love to read you!
